Plantar fasciitis

WHAT IS PLANTAR FASCIITIS?

Plantar Fasciitis is one of the most common causes of heel pain and occurs when the band that runs across the bottom of your foot, that connects the heel bone to the foot, becomes inflamed.

Symptoms include:

          • Pain around the heel and the arch of your foot
          • Experiencing worse pain in the mornings when you get out of bed
          • The pain often subsides during exercise
          • RISK: (age between 40 & 60)

People who work on their feet, like teachers and post men and certain types of exercise, like running and ballet dancing can cause a person to be more at risk of being diagnosed with Plantar Fasciitis. Likewise, conditions such as flat foot and obesity can be risk factors.

HOW DO WE DIAGNOSE PLANTAR FASCIITIS?

Clinicians will usually ask a series of questions, followed by an examination of the hip. A clinician may also recommend having an X-Ray to rule out any bony problems in the heel. An ultrasound scan or MRI scan will diagnose the condition.
