Why should a patient have a PRP injection, as opposed to a steroid injection?
PRP is a biological treatment and does not cause any potential harm to soft tissues or the joint. Likewise, evidence suggests that PRP injections can result in longer-lasting pain relief, in comparison with a steroid injection.

How should I prepare for my PRP injection?
It is vital to eat and drink well before the procedure so that the consultant has good access to draw the blood from the vein.
Why do you use ultrasound guidance to injection PRP?
It is important to use ultrasound guidance as PRP is an innovative treatment. We want to ensure that we deliver the growth factors precisely into the damaged tissue and to minimize discomfort for the patient.
What should I expect after the procedure?
0% of these injections may cause a flare or an inflammatory response within the joint or the injected part of the body. Therefore, you may feel a bit of stiffness or pain. This could last from between 48-72 hours post-procedure. If this occurs, the best thing to do is to place an ice pack directly onto the affected joint or take a paracetamol.PLEASE NOTE: You cannot take any anti inflammatories for at least 7 days after the procedure, as anti inflammatories negate the effects of the PRP injection.
When should I not have PRP?
If you suffer from Haemophilia, we advise that you do not have an injection of PRP.
Why might I need a course of three PRP procedures?
Evidence suggests that a course of three is more effective with a course of three, to change the environment of the tissue.
Do I need a GP referral?

Do I need to fast before the procedure?

- Are allergic to local anesthetic or steroids
- Feel unwell
- Are due to have surgery to the area soon
- Are not certain about having the injection
What clothing should I wear to my consultation?
We advise that you wear clothing that makes the affected joint/body area accessible to the consultant. For example, if your symptoms affect a lower limb, we would suggest wearing (or bringing) a skirt/shorts to the consultation.
Can you access my previous medical history?
We cannot access any of your previous medical histories. In light of this, we encourage you to bring a list of any medication that you are currently taking or regularly prescribed.
How long will the procedure take?
30-40 minutes.
Do we accept private medical insurance?
Unfortunately, we do not accept any form of insurance. However, our prices are competitive with other private healthcare clinics and our services are unique; the patient will receive a thorough examination, diagnostic scan, and an individualized treatment plan in one visit, without the need to pay for repeat consultation appointments.
When do I need to pay?
We accept cash, card, or cheque payment on the day of the consultation.
Is there a cancellation fee?

Will the injection help me?
Research shows that there is a 90% chance that the injection/s will help to settle down any pain and inflammation that you may be experiencing. Having your injection performed under ultrasound guidance helps to improve the efficacy of your treatment. However, we cannot guarantee that ultrasound guided injection/s will improve your symptoms. If this is the case, further tests and a different method of treatment may be necessary.
How long before I feel the benefits of my PRP injection?
This can vary between each individual and can be affected by a number of factors, including your individual condition and lifestyle. However, it can take up to 12 weeks after the third PRP injection before you may feel the benefits.
